Stephanie Cork, Ph.D., (she/they) - Co-Lead Including Disability Global Summit

Stephanie is an independent scholar, academic coach, notable alumni of UMD and also the creator and continued co-lead on the Including Disability Global Summit or "IDGS." A Maryland resident who originated in Toronto (Ontario, Canada), her work, research, and advocacy focus on accessibility in the post-secondary sector, actively supporting students in their transition to and beyond the exclusive walls of academia. With a background in Sociology, Cultural Studies, and Kinesiology, Stephanie is an avowed "interdisciplinary" scholar, which means she's read a lot but knows very little. Always learning, she loves teaching and is happy to share experiences and lessons learned as someone who is not "in-community" (nondisabled and always a willing accomplice to combating ableism).

Sara Olsen, Ph.D. - Disability Rights Program Analyst, US Government

Sara Olsen grew up surrounded by people who dedicated their lives to the service of others despite the challenges or sacrifices involved. The Navy seemed a natural choice to continue the family tradition of service before self. The combination of adventure with the mission to protect personnel and property inherent in the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) community drew her in. After nine years of active duty as an EOD Officer, Sara transitioned to the Reserves, where she has risen to the rank of Captain, having commanded three units and served in multiple staffs.

In her civilian life, she co-founded Crossroads Adaptive Athletic Alliance, a nonprofit designed to increase inclusive fitness for all people with disabilities. Working with people with disabilities in fitness opened Sara’s eyes to all the social and environmental barriers to participation. As a result, she pursued a Ph.D. in Public Health from the University of Maryland. Sara joined the Including Disability Global Summit in 2018.
